New Hopes to End the Pandemic?
The current situation is very hard due to Covid-19 spread. The big question is, does there still hopes to end the pandemic?
Some country that could control the spread of the virus is start to live normal again, such as Vietnam, China and Taiwan. However, the other country that couldn’t control it will keep to have a high new case of coronavirus. As a citizen that comes from a country that still have a high new case of coronavirus and seems not to have any sign to decline, it is really impossible to hope for a normal life again.
So, after almost a year we life with the virus, is there still any hopes to finish this pandemic and having a normal life again?
Well, the answer is Yes. The newest update is that the vaccine from U.S. and German is seems to have a 90% effective. The vaccine name is Pzifer and BioNtech. Even though it could be distributed to around the world on 2021, at least we still have a hopes to life normally again.
But the next question is, does the 90% effective vaccine is safe to be used?
I will try to give my insight, most of flu vaccine that is used now is having a 50% effective which is lower than the Covid-19 vaccine effectiveness. Therefore, we didn’t need to worry about the upcoming Covid-19 vaccine.
However, the other problem is about the economic strategy. Not trying to shows up the brand, but as I know some of the vaccine company was asking for a “Pre-Order” method. This method will make some countries to withdraw their interest to buy vaccines. Why?
Because the phase 3 and 4 of vaccine test is executed by the country that buy the vaccine. But, if the vaccine is not suitable in that country, there are no refund system. This administrative and payment method need to be reconsider in order to ease the vaccine distribution.
Some of you might think that how can a country could make a vaccine so fast that it is only feasible if that country is the one who made the virus?
Well, we need to eliminate this question first. The main purpose is how to defeat this pandemic. About who made the virus, it could be discussed later.
